Barring Metal
Convert holdings in ABC Bullion Pooled Accounts into bars, coins or minted tablets.
Barring is the process by which holdings in ABC Bullion pooled accounts—including Pool Allocated, Gold Saver and Gold Decumulator—are converted into a specific bar, coin or minted tablet for collection, premium or secure storage, or delivery.
If you request a product to be barred, ABC Bullion will deduct the equivalent ounces from your Pooled Account Holdings and apply a barring premium, which differs by product.
The barring premium covers:
The cost of producing the physical product (manufacturing); and
Handling and administrative costs.
The current barring premiums for our most popular products are listed in the table below. These premiums are effective as at 10 August 2026 and are subject to change.
A barring premium is a simple per‑unit calculation: the number of units you wish to bar multiplied by the applicable premium for that product.
For example, if you hold 5 troy ounces of gold in your ABC Bullion Gold Saver account and choose to take possession of 2 troy ounces as 2 x 1oz gold cast bars, the barring premium would be $150 ($75 per bar × 2).
After the transaction is complete, your Gold Saver balance would then be 3 troy ounces of gold.
To assist the tens of thousands of clients who hold precious metal investments in a Pooled Account with ABC Bullion, below we answer some common questions on barring.
