The table below shows end-of-financial-year prices for gold and silver in both US and Australian dollars. These prices can be used by any investor, including SMSF trustees, to value their precious metal portfolio as at the end of each financial year. All prices are quoted in troy ounces.
End-of-year prices for individual products over the last three financial years are provided below:
Example Valuations
A 100-gram gold cast bar would have been valued at AUD $18,788.65 for the financial year ending 30 June 2026 (3.215 troy ounces × AUD $5,844.06 per troy ounce).
A 500-gram silver cast bar would have been valued at AUD $1,364.45 for the financial year ending 30 June 2026 (16.075 troy ounces x AUD $84.88 per troy ounce).
Weight Conversions for Precious Metals
1 troy ounce = 31.10 grams
1 kilogram = 32.15 troy ounces
ABC Bullion sources its gold, silver, platinum and palladium prices from independent providers, primarily Xignite, a globally recognised authority in precious metals pricing.
A daily “close of business” price is established at 5:00pm AEST/AEDT, which serves as the official benchmark for all client metal valuations.
Precious metals have delivered consistently strong long‑term annualised returns, with gold, silver and platinum outperforming cash and other mainstream assets. This can be seen in the below table, which highlights annualised returns to end June 2026, denominated in Australian dollars.
